Longhorn beetle in flight
Taken with the same technique as the Burnet but played around with lighting, hope it looks better.

Yes - I think it does. Maybe a teeny bit too far right ? Simply remedied.

Yes much better a cracking shot. (I'm just going to post a hoverfly in flight taken using manual focus, the old fashioned way.)

Nice detail Dale, just looks a little/fraction dark to me?

I think this is great but does need some light from the other side to lift some of those details in the dark areas on the beetle..

maybe a slight shadows lift would improve it further, but a great image. The pose of the beetle is just right.

Lighting on this one is a lot better, would like to see this as bigger image as I feel it would give better detail, agree about shadows/highlights, excellent image though :toast: :toast: :toast:

Lighting is much better than the previous post. I agree about lifting the shadows a little bit, but other than that a great image.

Brilliant Dale. Lighting, positioning and background are all better on this than the previous image. I too would love to see a larger image of this. Great shot.

Your HSF work is awesome Dale - I don't think some folk appreciate that the technical aspect of it is so damn hard.

Have you thought of strobing the action - that might look awesome at these distances with the same focal length.

Nits covered so no need to mention them - great project :toast:
