Lesser Black - backed Gull

Lesser Black-backed Gull, photographed on a very miserable day on Skomer last year. I haven't lifted it too much to try and convey what the weather conditions were like, very dank and grey, not sure if the soft light works though ?

Processed in DPP / CS2 ( Full frame )

I'll try and dig out the techs

All comments most welcome and thanks for looking.

I think the soft light works well, and I am glad you did not lift it too much.

Soft light works well. Lovely and well composed image, with a very nice background. :wavey:

Hi Andy

I love the soft light and the setting and BG are superb.

Very nice indeed.. Might do away with the guano(?) on the rock but otherwise it is spot on.

This sort of light works well with white plumage. Like the colours of this one Andy.

As soon as this opened it shouted Skomer to me Andy. Typical lighting conditions (it's chucking it down again here) but as has been said, this sort of lighting really brings out the best in the whites on these birds. Composition is spot on and the rock is a very complimentary to the bird. The background, as I mentioned before, is just typical Skomer.
Lovely shot.
