This is from last weekend in McGee Creek. My daughter and I started hiking in the dark so that we could reach this area at sunrise, which is about 2 miles up the trail. The flowers were at their peak, but so were the mosquitoes (and I left the bug spray in the car).
Thanks,
Rudy

ooh, that's looking real nice in there. My wife wanted to go here a couple weekends ago, but I reminded her about an early start to avoid the heat. She's not an early riser so we wound up going to higher elevations.
cool shot!

Hope you guys didn't get eaten alive up there. I got a mosquito long sleeve hope it still works after the wash, it's suposed to be good for 70 of them. The waterproof shell works too.
That is a lot of flowers so much I want to head on up there and check it out. Nice set of pyramids there in the background. Did they catch any alpen glow? I remember this spot from the last time I was up there with you in the fall.
Nice, Rudy. Darn, I had a plan to be backpacking up that trail about this time of year, but life got in the way. I wonder how the flowers will be the first week of August, when I can probably make it.

Very nice indeed! I, like Steve, remember making this same trek in the Fall last year for the Aspens. What a cool place. And the hike itself really isn't that bad. Thanks for posting this cool image!
Where is the trailhead for this walk...is it at the end of the road?
Thanks

Thanks for the comments.
Steve, We had some really nice light with both clouds and sun.
Jeffery, I backpacked out of there at the end of July last year, but the flowers this low were gone. There were plenty of flowers up higher in the meadows below Big McGee.
Tony, The trailhead is at the end of the dirt road to McGee Creek. It's a great trail, but like Cory mentioned, the lower part does get hot during the day.
Nice photo. It made the early morning hike worth it. Good to see the flowers going strong. Have you checked out the bloom on any other Eastern Sierra trails, I plan to do some Eastern Sierra wildlflower hiking the next few days.
Rudy,
Too bad about the bugs so early in the morning, but it sure looks like the display was worth it. I'm hoping to backpack into this area a little later in the season. Best Regards.

Thanks for sharing, Rudy. This is lovely. I hope to make it over there
before the bloom is gone.

The foreground is a bit dark. Perhaps some lightening in the processing would help bring out some more of the color.
