Black & White? ... I don't think so.
Magpie. This juvenile spent a bit of time in front of the new hide this morning and when it started raining I started dropping the shutter speed to try and get the rain drops. Unfortunately I think I needed a plainer background to show the rain more. I did have a couple at slower speed but pose was poor and then Maggie decided it was time to sod off and get under cover. Couldn't blame him. However the lighting really showed his 'true' colours.

Great stuff. !
Shows the colours really well, A slight change in position can change them completely. All mine have got that scruffy area around the ears at the moment too.
The background line across the bottom distracts a little but no big deal.
Cheers

Yes the log at the bottom is a bit of a distraction but he caught me on the hop as I'd been set up for landscape shots as shown here. The tail is so long it makes it difficult to compose.

Prefer the first image Robert but agree about the OOF log. I know how difficult it is though to get everything just how you want it. Really shows the colours up well. A difficult subject to photograph especially this close. :wavey:

You don t tend to see many magpie images but they are a beautiful colour which you have shown here, it is a shame about the oof log but still a nice image I think, I also like the second one and you can just see the raindrops.

Its the first image for me too Robert. Really love the colours on display. I'd really love to get some images of these. So much to do and so little time!

Beautiful shot! :toast:

First one for me Robert - don't think I've ever seen an image that shows off the feather iridescence quite so well before :toast: :toast:

The second image doesn't work quite so well for me and the BG colours/shading make it look like you've been at the Shadow/Highlight adjust in the neck and chest region (slight halo effect).

Like I said, the first posting is a stunner - I'll forget about the OoF log as it's already been mentioned
