So, my wife generously gave me a "week off" last month so that I could do most anything that I wanted to do. I did a little soul searching (just a little!) and decided to head to northern Arizona and try to visit some of those landscapes that are on my LifeList (before my BucketList starts to rear its ugly head!).

I've been to South Coyote Buttes before, and made it back there, but under cloudy conditions this time. I stopped by the Paria Contact Station to pickup my SCB permit, as well as to get into the lottery for North Coyote Buttes/The Wave. The two days before I got there, there were between 40 and 50 people in the lottery for the ten opportunities. On the day that I was there, there was a gullywasher that hit just before the lottery, so only 21 people were nervously waiting - and, my number was called first! ;)

I drove into Page, rented an outstanding 4WD Jeep Wrangler, and then headed to SCB (cloudy conditions) and then deeper into the Paria Canyon Wilderness to White Pocket (outstanding!). I camped at WP that night, and then headed to NCB/The Wave early the next morning - again, outstanding!

Finally, I drove to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. While I've been to the GC maybe ten times, I'd not been to the North Rim before - it's a much better experience, in my opinion. I spent a day around the main North Rim areas, and then headed off to Point Sublime - I can't speak highly enough of that spot.

So, here are a lot of photographs that you can enjoy at your leisure...

White Pocket
South Coyote Buttes
The Wave/North Coyote Buttes
Horseshoe Bend
North Rim Grand Canyon

I'll be back in a few weeks,

Tim!

Looks like you had a great time and brought back some great images to share. Like the North rim shots.

From the looks of your website it looks like you spent a lot of time in contemplation. What a great trip. I tried to win the wave lottery once and failed. You really lucked out to be able to make that journey. I managed to get through most of the photos but my internet connection is so slow I have to let the slideshow run for about 15 minutes then come back and start looking at photos.

Beautiful stuff, Tim: I think I just added these areas to my own list :-)
