Hawthorn Shield Bug
Hi all, here,s one from today, weather was awful but a few hours out was better than watching white ball in sky on tv. Decided to go to a few sheltered spots I know and found this beastie, 3 different dragons and 4 species of butterfly, always pays to get out there, no earthshattering shots but plenty of fun :wavey:

Techs d300, 105 macro (vr off) 1/60 @f11 blip of fill in off camera flash, tripod, remote release.

All comments welcome.

Nice choice of DOF to isolate the complementary BG. A very pleasing composition, IMO. Not seen many around here this year, normally quite a few.

Nice detail Shaun. Pity the tip of the right antenna isn't in focus but a nice image. I love these creatures Like Dragonflys they have that alien look about them. Thanks for the ID I took a few shots of one of these a month or so back. :wavey:
