Meadow Pipit
Have two versions of this image the other in portrait.I think the log may be to heavy for the bird in the portrait version but don t know if it looks right in landscape.

Hi Karen.
It is a tad big but that's what they sit on !
I get on about perches in relation to the birds size a lot I know but I am usually meaning in relation to set up situations where it can be controlled..
Looks ok to me anyway.
Cheers

You can't help where they perch Karen. At least the colours in the perch are complimentary to the Meadow Pippet. A lovely detailed image and beautiful background. :toast:

Reminds me of Tracy Emin's Roman Standard sculpture. The image looks fine to me. Excellent.

I think this probably works in portrait (you are the best judge of that), but it certainly works the way you have presented it. Great portrait.

They both work for me, but I prefer the portrait version. Lovely image.

Karen i like the first one the best,i would not worry about that perch it's typical of the fence posts at the side of the road that these birds use ,if we where doing set ups for these then that would be a different matter.both are super images.

I am glad you decided to post both versions, Karen. I think both are great, but for me your first posting has it by a whisker... or should that be feather?

Hi,
I like the first one better,
beautiful soft colors and plenty of detail.

Definitely the landscape for me - it's actually an attractive perch, but a bit too dominant in the portrait version for me. Cracking shot overall.

Nice images Karen; the log is 'heavy' but not over-powering - picture editors love having the choice of landscape and portrait comps of the same subject, so always worth doing.

Cheers,
