Hi. I will be at Olympic National Park in the Elwha river area working tuesday through thursday and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of where to go in the area. We will be collecting native plant seeds to replant the lake beds when they remove the two dams along the river.

I'm really only looking for photo spots in the Elwha river area because I will be working along the river and I will be staying at Elwha campground and will not have my own vehicle there. I don't think I will be able to use one of the vehicles before or after work because they are federally owned and "for official use only". I will probably visit madison creek falls because it is only about a half mile from the campground but I would appreciate any advice from anyone who knows the area. Thanks.

Hey Austin, sorry that no one's weighed in here...I love the Elwha valley, but I will say it's a hard place to photograph...at least for me...I'd recommend spending time around the entrance to the road that parallels the river. Off to the left is a nice grove of trees and a waterfall--can't remember the name at the moment.

Along the road there are several places to pull off and picnic or view the river. These are good locations for photography. I've found that I prefer the more abstract type of shots, using a 200 or 300mm lens and play with the water and rocks in the river. Good luck with the job and the photography. I hope you post something here afterwards.

Cheers,
