A marmot from last week in the Haute Savoie enjoying the lush vegetation at 2700m. They prefer to feast in the morning or the late evening as it is too hot in the day .... no arguments from me it was very hot
Mk1V + EF500, F7.1 1/640th

Cheers

Nice one Calum, good to see you were not just drinking fine wine & enjoying the pasta

I like the incline and low POV with the inquisitive head up through the meadow flowers. I would selectively lighten around the nose, jaw and eye area, there is more detail you can bring out.

I like the low point of view and the inquisitive look. Lovely shot.

Just a little to much FG for my tastes. I would remove just a little from the bottom, maybe just above the blue flowers on the RHS and below the first yellow. Other nits mentioned but some nice detail and super POV.

Personally I would have preferred more marmot and less meadow flowers, but its not an easy balance to strike - The hard part is second guessing which burrow they will emerge from when setting up.......they are either super skittish and any movement at all sends them straight back down the burrow for another hour or fairly laid back if they think there is no danger around.

Better than any marmot shot i got in the 3 years that i lived there, They can be incredibly shy so well done

Dave - you were just side tracked by the lure of the Chamois!
