After seeing Rick's image, I went back into my folder from 2 years ago to see if the log existed in the foreground pool. It did back then, too. For some reason I didn't take any landscape orientations as Rick did. Upon recollection, the left side beyond my framing was pretty barren. Since I couldn't resist processing this, I decided to post it. Hope you don't mind, Rick. I'm not sure that this has near the imapact as Rick's 12MP version, but the light was low, even and much more forgiving. It was lightly raining, overcast and extremely wet out. Perfect for waterfall photography. The tree limbs above have a crisp appearance in the larger file, do to the numerous water droplets clinging to them. The image I have posted and printed the most is a little more to the left, showing the two tall trees standing dead center in the background. This was more in Rick's position, to the right a bit.
So while wife and dog stayed in the SUV thinking I was a nut, I set up with a towel over my camera, and my coat pulled up over my head in an effort to shoot as dry as possible. I was about 30 feet from the car, in fact!
Canon 1D2 with the 24-70 gem of a lens..
ISO-100, f22 at about 4 seconds I think..

Thanks.. this is actually the wrong one I posted. I've put this up before. It even looks better to me in some ways in B&W.
I might get out Kevin, I'm just not sure what time and where and when. Some anti-war rally is tomorrow afternoon, so I will probably avoid downtown. How are you looking the next two weekends? I'm not on-call those two, and would like to travel outside of PDX to somewhere.

Where the heck is this, Ned? I like this shot, I think you need a little more separation in the greens in the top half but it sure ain't a bad shot!

Thank you, Mark..
It's in a great area. This falls is located near Diamond Lake, (close to Crater Lake). It can be gotten to off of Highway 97 in Central Oregon. I'm not sure where the cutoff is exactly, but if you head towards Highway 62, the Diamond Lake junction, (if its called that), is right there - you then drive West on Highway 138 towards Roseburg and this falls and it small picnic area is right off the highway - I'm guessing 10-12 miles from the lake? It is before Toketee Falls.. It's on the Umpqua River system - which is really quite spectacular in the fall..

I dig the vertical framing, this is beautiful. I like as is, no nits.
