American Basin
From my weekend trip from Denver to Crested Butte, Yankee Boy and American Basin, the American Basin area was the best. Here is a sample of the area. I would appreciate your feedback on this image. You can be tough with your comments as that is how I will continue to learn.

Here is a crop version I like a little better.

Hey Tim, I think you posted the same image twice.
I like the view of the flowers and the inclusion of the distant ridge, but for me this is a little too busy. I think your focus are the near columbine or maybe the flowers in general, but the rocks throughout the scene and the various angles of the near hill and far ridges, all compete for attention. That's one of the reasons I think it's very difficult to take a really good near-to-far flower-field and mountains shot. Also why I keep trying this kind of shot but tend to concentrate on tighter compositions and portraits - but just my opinion.

I was in CB on Fri/Sat and American Basin Sat/Sun. I agree that AB was MUCH better. Get there while the gettin's good! I can't tell from this image size, but if you managed to get a nice crisp shot of the columbine the wind must have been nicer to you. I haven't review my shots yet but the breeze, even in the early morning, was very frustrating.

Show us some more. Great color BTW!

Interesting...
The web version here seems quite underexposed, but when I looked at it in PS it brightened up considerably!

Nice grouping here Tim. Thanks for the field report from AB.

John, that is what I noticed as well, not sure why or how to resolve this.

Yeah, they look really dark to me, too.

Ditto on the dark appearance. I also think Kalin made some good points, it seems to me that the middle ground blocks the eye from going to the background. The color looks really nice though.

Well, these images are still in the ProPhoto RGB color space. Once you convert them to sRGB, then they'll look a whole lot better here.

I thought I gave you the solution in the previous post.

John,

Not sure what happened there. Yes, you gave me the reason and I appreciate it. I recently switched to LR3 and forgot that it uses ProPhoto.

Thanks,

Tim
