Yankee Boy Saturday
Very nice display of columbine , paintbrush and other wildflowers in yankee Boy - thanks to the moral boost from Bret (about the road to reach Yankee Boy ) was able to witness the wonderful display of wildflowers. As always, Please feel free to critique on the photos.

The first and second images are really nice. Some of the best work you've posted here, in fact!
The vertical images are posted too large (720 pixel limit on the long end) and I almost have to scroll to see the entire image.

Thanks John - trying to learn from the C&C here ..
I thought I posted at 700 pixels, will check again and be careful in future.

I like the columbine portrait a lot. On the first one I'd be tempted to crop in to that beautiful grouping of flowers and lose the rest of the photo. And that's not just because the mountain in the background is giving me, and only me, the finger.

Pretty, Soubhik! I love your columbine shot. Todd spoiled the first one for me
The third has some exposure issues that could have benefited from either a grad filter or multiple exposures for HDR.

Wish I'd known you were gonna be there Soubhik, I was there myself. I saw Ken Wyatt on Saturday...he was leading a small group. I agree the conditions were very good on Saturday but Monday AM was a killer with clouds lighting up the sky as well.

As for your series, I like 1 and 2...3 is a little dark in the foreground. I can see where you were going with the comp in number 1, trying to show the surroundings and give sense of place that a tighter comp wouldn't. Nice catch on number 2!

Thanks for sharing and the update.

I really like that clump of columbines and paintbrush in the first one and the comp is o.k. maybe a crop from the left to eliminate the brighter mountain as it pulls my eye there. The properties on the first one show it is 650x900 pixels and the third one is 650x877 pixels so the long sides are too big for the guidelines. I hope that helps. The second one is my favorite of this group and the third one's sky is too bright. Maybe a grad filter next time, or another exposure for the sky and blend the two?

Thanks a lot for all your suggestions.
I was thinking that I would find quite a few of us out there, but since didn't know any of you by face ... met a fellow photographer out there who was leading two others and also gave me a hint on a waterfall composition  , but didn't ask his name .

The columbines turned out really nice! Like the tight crop.
