I couldn't take the heat on the front range anymore last weekend, so I packed my kit and headed up into the Mohawks Lakes basin for a quick getaway. These are just a few samplers from my LX3, but I shot quite a bit more on 4X5.
The wildflowers are probably at peak for this area, which means that Mayflower Gulch will probably be at peak too. They're not as prolific as the San Juans, but there are some very nice areas. Columbines were blooming extensively around upper Mohawk Lake. Its been hot and dry, so the upper tundra is not the best I've seen for this time of year.
Found some white bog orchids blooming up there. Wish I'd brought one of my 4X5 macro lenses for this. Its the first time I've found the white bog orchids and there were lots of them. I've seen all the other types in Colorado.
I was able to enjoy some nice light for both sunrise and sunset. This was shot later during Sunday's sunrise. Unfortunately the wind was rather strong for great reflections on the lakes.

I haven't been able to post much lately. Work has been very demanding lately and my spare time has been consumed by projects.
