First, I want to thank all of you who posted on the first posting giving your knowlege, insite and advice!

Well I tried some of the advice of offering a print(s) for a signed release. I emailed the lady that owned the dog. I offered her some pictures free of charge and in return I would like a signed release.

She excepted and wanted 2 4x6 of her dog with the flag drapped around him that I had made up. Well I printed the two she wanted and I threw in 3 more as a surprize, one of the 3 I made up as picture in picture with one of the images being a ghost image, if you can understand what I am talking about.

Last week I mailed the pictures and the release (standard model release) which I modified to suit her and her dog by name. I put on the release the 5 pictures she had recieved for signing the release.

Yesterday I received back in the mail the pictures and the release unsigned and no explanation.

So I emailed her last night and received a reply back this morning stating she saught LEGAL COUNSEL (from whom and where I have no idea)and was advised not to sign the release.

Well, I just emailed her back explaining about the law requirement for certain uses. I also told her I had plans to print a large picture of the dog to give to the the veteran riders motorcycle club to use for a chairity auction to help raise money and I wanted to use a couple of the pictures for promotional purposes on my personal website to show some of the types of work I can do.

I closed the email stating that I respect her decision and that I would remove the pictures that I made up of her dog and the flag from my personal website which I did a few minutes ago.

I also told her she can still have the pictures I sent her if she still wanted them, we will see?

For me this issue is done but not all is lost. What I tried to do for her and her dog may now be over, it did give me an I idea, I can use my own dogs for the same purpose and have fun doing it.

Even if she replies back from my last email and changes her mine about wanting to now sign the release, it will not happen, once someone says no, it will be forever no!

It was not a good a day at work today, dwelling on this situation.

I feel alot better now, the shutter button will continue to fire.

Again thanks to all of you, live and learn.....

She probably didn't even read the release, or dare I say it, dim-witted.

I woudln't lose any sleep over it. You didn't do anything wrong.

You done the right thing David, forget about her and do your own thing with your dog. Just a personal note. If your going to be interacting with people, you will need to except no and just move on, don't take it so personal it is simply not worth the aggravation. No can be a good thing as looks like you have realized.
