Hi,
Went back to the tree I spotted the male on and found this female lesser spotted making this hole on the underside of a branch, is this going to be a nest? I think a design flaw is evident as eggs will plumet onto my lens when laid.

Cheers now

Cracking shot Tim of an illusive bird, a great sense of humour to

Hi Tim
it could be the start of a nesting site. Nice capture.

Hi Tim,

What a great experience it must have been being so close to this uncommon bird.

Hi Tim
You must be happy to find these on your new patch.
Still plenty of tree to go at if she gets the first hole wrong.
Cheers Simon

Looks to be difficult lighting, well done on getting the image, saw one at the weekend, but couldn't get a clear shot. You must be well pleased...
