Last week I was photographing in the Lake

Really a neat location, Robert. I would suspect looking at this site one could venture all along this shoreline area in some kind of waterproof gear and work up some amazing shots overall.

While in Tahoe City continue driving beyond the McDonald's eatery. In less than
a half mile, turn right on Lake Forest Street. The street is about 50 to 100 yards
beyond the"Tamarack Lodge" that sits on a hillside to the left. Once on Lake
Forest as I recall, I turned right on Bristlecone Pine St. Soon after that I parked,
and in three mins. I walked to the posted sight.

I got my directions from Elizabeth Carmel whose gallery I visited in Truckee. As
an aside, if you enjoy visiting photo galleries, I highly recommend this gallery.
Her work is breathtaking. For wildflowers, she also suggested a hike in Shirley
Canyon, beginning behind the Olympic Village Inn in Squaw Valley.

A helpful book for wildflowers in that area is "Hiking Tahoe's Wildflower Trails"
by Julie Stauffer Carville. It lists 30 trails, extending all the way down to Carson
Pass.

Another wildflower hike that I made out of Tahoe City was Paige Meadows.
That was an easy 45 min. hike one way. The directions are: South on
89 (about a mile or two out of Tahoe City), right on "Pine St.", right on
"Tahoe Park Heights", right on "Big Pine", and finally left on "Silvertip".
Once you turn off of 89, it takes about 10 mins for this drive. Park at the
end of the cul de sac and walk in. There are about three meadows all
relatively close together. I walked from my car for about a half hour or so
before coming to a T; from there I turned right and in about 50 yards came
to a sign that directed me to Paige Meadows.

Whereas the mosquitoes were no problem along Lake Tahoe for the above
posting, they were quite an issue at Paige Meadows.

Another site you might consider while in the area is Frog Lake and Winneumcca
Lakes off of 88 in Carson Pass. That's about an hour an a half south of Tahoe
City. I've photographed there in past summers and gotten good results. I stopped
there on my way through on Friday, July 16. At the forest service visitor's center
I was told that I was a week or two early there for peak wildflower conditions.

I hope that this helps.
