It was a beautiful morning with great wildflowers.

I'm curious about your take on this. Does it look overworked?

I also show some of the amazing wildflowers that were there.

I'd never seen paintbrush of this color before.

If I was a little quicker with my camera, I could have captured a moose in the middle of this.

This is a blend of 3 exposures. I also shot it on 4x5 with 6 stops worth of grad. I won't get my 4x5 back for over a week.

Knowing what the dynamic range was like first hand on the first and last exposures, I think you have done a splendid job! All of the comps are well done, and the colors are great. That first one is strong! But then again, so is the last one.

Thanks Morris for telling me about this place.

It was definitely worth sleep depravation for me to meet up with you with the clouds, light, wildflowers, and moose.

I have 2 things about number 1. First, I don't know if it's slightly over-saturated or there is a slight cyan tint...it just looks a little over worked or something. Second, I would like to have seen a wider angle with more mountain top and more reflection.

Some of the others seem a tad over saturated but the comps are good. It might also be my monitor thats causing these to look overdone.

Personally I really really like the composition of the 1st one, but it seems you have to work a lot to bring back the detail in the shadow, which makes it not as natural as I'd like. But it's just a matter of time that we hit the right light and the right sky :-) Oh and for the last shot, I can't wait to see the large format!!

I love that last one. But who took your 4x5, and why won't they give it back for a week?
Posted by Jack Garrett on July 26, 2010 at 10:17 AM
I just looked at these on my Mac monitor and I take back what I said on the saturation...they look good on this one.

I like the comp on the firstone persobnally....but the shadows do look a bit over-developed to me.

#1 looks great to me (except the dust bunny). The others are real nice, but seem a tad flat (undersaturated) but im on a non-calibrated monitor right now--will recheck tonight.

I like the 3 shot blend best. For #1, I'd prefer either no sky or a slice of sky over the peaks.

I like 1, 3, 5. Did you use a grad or blend? Nice work.

All very nice, but the last one is a real stunner.

Love that last shot. Is that frost on those flowers?

I also like the first shot but it seems a bit contrasty... maybe the trees were lightened a little too much?

I like the light and composition in the first shot but it does look a little overworked.
