It's that time again!
Well soon the 'Glorious 12th' will be here, and these little guys will be the target for most sportsmen & women paying a handsome fee to bag this small game bird.

Another face on to camera shot Steve and I really like this one which (considering my comment on your tern image a short while back) is making me look a bit of a muppet  The whole image works exceptionally well, composition, foreground colouration / setting and the distant layered background are delightful. Trying to analyze why I don't mind the front on view I can only think it must be the eye combs and the prominent catchlights in both eyes that lift it for me. Or perhaps it's the inferrence within your text regarding the approaching gunfire and the subsequent perception of the birds expression as being a tad worried which has given the image a slightly anthromorphic appeal.
Anyway...... 'Damn fine shot old boy' to paraphrase the undoubted remarks coming from the shooting fraternity on the 12th ! :toast:

Fabulous image Steve I would be really happy to have it myself. Just wonder whether the clump of oof heather front right slightly draws the eye but that is me really nit picking. I guess it was not taken in Scotland as there are no midges in the image

Thanks guys. :wavey:

Robert the who part of posting is to get advice, feedback and indeed a different perspective on the image (good or bad), as sometimes, as the 'owner/originator', we may overlook things and therefore no need to be a muppet. HA are always tricky, however I hope I have got this one sorted. Perhaps the title should be a quote from Baldrick's poem Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom

Ben you are quite right, not in Scotland

Thanks
Steve

The head-on pose with the slightly raised eyebrows is unusual and makes this one Steve. Is this a recent one Steve? The heather looks quite advanced. :toast:

Although a nice image with good composition I would have been happier with an f8 to f11 type shot so that the heather is sharper round the bird. Looks like you have plenty of space behind the bird to keep a good background too.
