Gannet - eye contact

Bored of my usual Gannet flight shots ( you can only take so many ) I tried something a little different; head shots of Gannets in flight. Firstly, I would like to know if the shot works and secondly does the composition work for this type of shot.

Processed in DPP / CS2

All comments most welcome and thanks for looking.

Works for me. Inclusion of the wingtip would be better imho, but I think is really good as it is. Nce to see a different take on these subjects.

Looks ok to me Andy. Maybe a little more space on the right but that would loose the space behind the wing. No big deal.

Andy have you left an NR layer on overall, it has a slight plastic feel to it with no detail?

I can see what steve is talking about but i love it Andy, wingtip doesnt bother me, think there is enough space around it, something a little different.

Thanks for the comments and advice guys, cheers :toast:

Hi Steve, most of the noise reduction was carried out on the RAW file in DPP, though I did carry out a secondary very light pass of NR in CS2 on the final web image. On reflection, I can now see what you mean about the loss of detail.

shame about the loss of detail as it does work for me, its interesting to me to as I have many gannet shots that I would like to just do a head version but always struggle what looks right can never make up my mind so will be good to see what others say

Brilliant focussing, making this a super shot. My eye is drawn to the eye, and it's pin sharp. Brill! :toast:

Thanks once again for the comments.

Maybe the last round of NR killed the detail, I'll pay more attention to the final image in future.

Cracking eye contact & detail, nicely captured on this fast moving target.
