Hi everyone,

I know this is a little premature, but there is perhaps a 70% chance of coming out to the Denver area in late June - both myself and another photographer friend from the PNWNP group. I'm very familiar with Colorado - having spent many vacations there, travelling across it to destinations in Oklahoma, Kansas and New Mexico in the past. I even lived briefly North of Denver while trying to land a job in Littleton once.

We'd like to maybe locate a few spots to shoot in a reasonable distance from Denver. I was thinking of perhaps Garden of the Gods, The highway along the Arkansas River between Colorado Springs and points West - (maybe the Canon City / Royal Gorge area), among others. I know that North of Denver isn't extremely scenic - I lived in the Louisville area for that short time. Of course there is the idea of heading towards the Rockies, too.

So any thoughts would sure be appreciated. I'm a little fuzzy on some of the distances and times to get to some of these places out there.

Thanks in advance, Ned.

Let all of us know where you might be heading as most of us are always around and about all summer long.

Then you don't know Colorado as well as you think you do! Personally, I'd skip Garden of the Gods and Canon City/Royal Gorge itinerary in favor of points NW of Denver, specifically Indian Peaks and RMNP. There's also the I-70 corridor leading west from Denver, where you can take in Loveland Pass and Summit County locations. You could spend an entire summer shooting and never have to set foot south of I-70 to find alpine beauty.

I partially Agree with Todd here, If you have time take it all in, but I do agree you will be Shocked by the Beauty of the Indian Peaks Wilderness and Rocky Mountain National Park. Heck even the route through SteamBoat up to the West Side of RMNP is stunning! The Maroon Bells are too in Aspen!

Thanks for everyone's insight. We'll definitely make a post well in advance of our arrival.
