Photo taken this morning at 05.22am as the sun had just broken the horizion. There where two shafts of light that broke through the dense tree line that is the background here, and which surrounded this lake. Creating this effect by lighting up the low lying mist which was present on top of the water. All I had to do was hope and pray the Mute Swan would swim into one of those shafts. The end result here is luck .I love the effect the light, mist has created here.

Serendipity can be a friend indeed. if you treat it with respect, as you obviously do. Well thought out producing a superb atmospheric image. Excellent, Craig.
Thank you all for your kind words.Shaun -It does look good as B+W but the colour of the light this morning makes the shot for me. Andy nice to meet you too on Sunday sorry I was so busy and look forward to hearing from you.David thank you and I have much respect and love for nature and this image was a beautiful moment for me to have captured all the best
Go on give us something romantic why dont you! Excellent shot and the decsion to include so much of the dark area was inspired. Chance favours the prepared mind!

Nearly missed this one but it's all been said really - just superb Craig
As for being lucky - I always reckon the more time you spend out in the field and the more early starts you put in, the luckier you get - any element of luck was very well deserved

Beautifully captured and the swan is perfecly placed in the morning mist.
Excellent.
Don't know if I might be tempted to shave a little off the bottom the emphasise the negative space on the left or not - hard to say.
You've just raised your own bar Craig - a special image indeed.
Phil.
As you say,you were very lucky! Yeah Right!
Fantastic image.
