Many thanks all. I am pleased so many liked it and it was nice to share one of the moments.
After all there is no point if you can't let others see for them to judge either way. It was one of several images taken over a period the first being 4.20pm and the last being 5.47pm.
I had already staked out a watering hole that had been formed by a leaking irrigation pipe on a headland coupled with the fact that a tractor had driven through it at some stage leaving deep ruts that had filled with water.
On my arrival I came across someone in an ajoining field who had set up to do Pigeon shooting. As I had not seen him before I pointed out what I was doing and went around to the adjacent field. I settled down and the shooting started. After a time I could hear what I thought was a Turtle Dove purring away and I remeber thinking I hope that bloke doesnt go and shoot it. My scrim netting is quite tightly woven and didnt give me the best view out but for some reason I pulled it back and there right in front of me was the two Stoats making that purring noise. They put on a show for the period already mentioned chasing fighting swimming and generally having a great time. It was a very special time for me to and not something I am liable to see in a hurry again.

Deserves every superlative it has already been given. Great to have you posting again, Major, and the story of how you came to get the shot only adds to it.
As Tom says, this why we keep going . You must be really pleased with this Major and it is great to see your photography back on here. Wonderful image. eric
It's difficult to find anything new to say that hasn't already been said about this so I shall just content myself with agreeing with all the above comments. Great shot of one of the best if not THE best mammals in Britain.
Hello Major
This richly deserves all the acolades heaped on it. You are a man obviously at one with nature, and it shows in many of your images.
Best wishes
Phil

All off your comments are the icing on the cake and very welcome to.
The whole experience from begining to end was really magical and not to be forgotten in a hurry.
I hope that one day I will have that chance again. I will be trying to reduce the odds so that hopefully I can witness it again someday. My top British Mammal.
Many thanks.
