Since Scott started off with his images from The Cirque, I decided to start with my images from our first night in The Cirque -- or in this case not far from our camp near the top of Jackass Pass. As Scott mentioned, we got really shorted as far as clouds, so the best option we had was to wait until the light was really lighting up the peaks in the morning or evening. The best option from where we were at sunset was to shoot back toward Temple and East Temple Peaks. I decide to bring only my 17-40, so I had more of a challenge with the distant scene. So, here is one from the pass...

P.S. The next 2 images in the gallery are the same night.

Cool shots! I like the dusk shot the best... I think the gradient in the sky is more interesting than the alpenglow w/ empty blue sky.

I really like the placement of Arrowhead lake. I like both the sunset and dusk shots both.

Very nice. Like the warm light and the detail in the shadow areas.

Awesome - perfect portrait of Arrowhead Lake!

Thanks, guys. I think I also am leaning toward the dusk shot as my favorite as well. I must admit that I really fell in love with this view, because of the lake and because of the shape of East Temple. At some point I'd like to head over to the Deep Lake area and get a closer look.

Ditto on the placement of that great shaped lake! Excellent comp and sweet light. Very well done.

Thanks, Morris and Joshua. I think that lake is about the most aptly named lake I have ever seen
