I have a MacBook Pro with 2 gig's of RAM running Snow Leopard. It has a 32 bit EFI BIOS. I'd like to put Photoshop CS 5 on it. Since Snow Leopard will only run in 32 bits on it, I suppose that PS will only run as a 32 bit app. If I upgraded the RAM to 4 gb, with PS be able to use it?
Thanks for your help.

I don't know specifcally for your situation... but I just got an iMac and with 4gb of RAM and am running CS5 with no problems....
Dan: I have a MacBookPro that is a couple of years old - not the latest model - and it is running CS5 just fine with 4GB ram and 32bits on OSX 10.5.6. I'm not an expert but believe that the maximum ram is highly recommended by those who are.
I have a MacBook Pro with 4 gig ram, 10.6.4 OS, and a 2.53 Ghz Core 2 Duo processor. I have had no problems with CS5. I do not run any extra plugins. I hear that 10.6.4 crashes in CS5 a good bit. But I do not have that problem.
Photoshop uses a lot of ram, the more the better. 4 ghs is the minimum. That would be the way to go. Conrad

Dan - I believe you're asking if PS will actually use more than 2 GB of RAM, and not just will it run OK? In that case I believe the answer is "yes" but it won't use a whole lot more than 2 GB.
For some reason, CS4 would use up to around 3GB of RAM, but CS5 in 32-bit mode on a Mac will only use a little over 2GB. I've seen that noted several places in reviews, but I haven't seen an explanation. It's possible that updates could raise that amount, but that's pure speculation.

Thank you David. That's what I want to know. I want to know if PS 5 will make use of more than 2gb in a with 32 bit Snow Leopard.
