I've been running my Dig Projector for my workshops on the VGA port. Someone notice my projector had a DVID port for HD, which would produce a better image for my presentations. I went out and bought a HDMI to DVID cable and hooked it up. Images don't look any better then the VGA images. Is there much difference or does this sound like somethings wrong.

I just ordered a TX1080 Optoma which has 1920 x 1080 with 3600 ANSI Lumens so expect this to produce much better images then my cheap Sharp $600 machine.

Mike - What res is the projector? VGA ports can accept HD signals up to a certain res depending on the model (I'm not sure what resolution). If the VGA port will support the resolution you're using, you may not see much difference between them - it's simply the difference between analog and digital, and if it's not a noisy signal, the digital port probably doesn't buy you anything.

Hey David, it's 1024X768, 2200 lumens, 2100-1 contrast. I've been told there should be a difference, but from what I see both look the same. maybe on the higher end projectors it makes a difference  Thanks

Hey Mike,

I bought a component video to vga cable then hooked up my PS3 and noticed a HUGE difference in resolution. The signal can only go up to 720p or 1080i but was worth the cheap investment. Not sure if you can work something out similarly for your computer though...
