The tonalities look really nice in this one, Rudi. I really like the sky and the sense of depth. I might have opted to give the Mule's Ear plant a little more breathing room along the bottom of the frame. The textures is nice.
How far up the canyon is this from the trail head?
Rudy, nice perspective on this image. I would not mind seeing a little more contrast in the middle tones, especially in the middle ground. There would be many ways to approach it, should you wish to experiment, either with the B&W conversion sliders, curves or Tony's actions, if you use them. I think your idea to make this B&W is a good one, it works well here.
I think the b&w rendition fits well for this scene, especially with the big sky; but the flowers are presented nicely as well. Surprising too because normally this summer wildflower image should be screaming color - but this works nicely.
My only wish agrees with Preston in wanting a little more room at the bottom. Of course I'm guessing there was something you wanted to keep out of the frame? Or, the expansive set of clouds was just too much to keep out. Still, nicely captured.

Thanks for the input on this one. Preston, this is about two miles up from the trail head.
