Did a little shooting at the arsenal this morning. Captured what I think is a mountain cottontail. Have not shot to many hares besides pikas! Looked to small to be a jackrabbit.
Correct me if I am wrong.
nice shots Dan, the only thing I wish for is a lower f stop, maybe to make the rabbit stand out. I can understand though if that was not an option with a telephoto lens. the deer is awesome wouldn't change a thing. nice photography
I really like both these shots Dan, DOF works for me on both. Only thing I may edit on #1 is the brighter oof blade of grass to the left of his left ear, I would maybe clone it or darken it - love his pose!.
Thanks for the comments. I shot the rabbit at f/7.1 just to make sure I got the eyes and the mouth in focus.
Thanks for the heads up on that blade of grass.
It's a Jackelope! Great expression on the rabbit, or whatever he is. Makes me sad because my neighbor's cat just ate a baby one in my yard... and then my dog rolled in whatever stinky parts were left of it!
Both great shots Dan. I agree with Nick on #1. #2 seems a little on the warm side, but that is very likely how the scene looked with the sun out in full. Cheers!

White tailed deer, good catch. Don't see many of those around here.
Nice Dan. I think it's a desert cottontail, and I've never seen a jackrabbit at RMA. And Brian, WT deer are actually increasing in numbers east of the Front Range rapidly. There are approximately 350 mule deer and 350 WT deer at RMA.
both are excellent! The giant rabbit or whatever it is is awesome! That takes years of experience and training to get just the right amount of dof and you nailed it.

Another great couple of shots Dan! I like the comp on your cottontail shot and the leg lift of the white-tailed deer

You most certainly are in a zone!
These are spectacular, and in a quality I expect to see in a wildlife magazine.

Don't mind if I do! LINK (hehe
Excellent shots, Dan. Whatever that rabbit is, the shot is killer! And I had no idea (or is it know idea?
I digress... the deer is outstanding!
