Work has been keeping me in Wyoming a lot lately. Instead of being bummed about being swamped and hating what I do I took advantage of the situation. So after a few email conversations with Brett Deacon I decided to explore some of the more scenic places outside of Cheyenne.
Here is a sample of some pretty iconic locations but I bet it will be a nice change of pace on this San Juan wildflower forum. Not that I have anything against it, I did manage a fantastic trip to Ice Lakes Basin with Jack Brauer but I wanted to share something other then what we're almost getting tired of. If you're curious to see what I captured while roaming around with Jack you can see it here: http://www.thelightwithinphotography.com/wordpress/
#6 just for kicks I wanted to mess around with blowing grass and vari-n-duo filter while waiting for my wells to recharge (don't ask...). It's intentionally over processed for the artsy types.

Lake Marie Alpenglow = Muy Bueno! Love the backlighting in #2 too!
#4 is killer, but I'd like to see a crop from the bottom to just above the top of the 2 "lone" blooms. This would make for a better comp IMO. The glow on the peaks is awesome!

I really dig these photos! The Lake Marie shots are especially nice, but I also like the last one. Great idea!

Definitely the Lake shots and the blowing grass, also.

Hi Aleks! I'm sorry I couldn't join up with you. I like these! #5 is my favorite; #4 seems to have a little tilt to the right. Isn't it fun watching the peaks above Lake Marie change from red to orange during the sunrise? You have nice clouds in these as well. Were they exposure blends? There seems to be some blending artifacts in #5. I hope you enjoyed your time up here.
Aleks, great work up in the Snowys. On my way up there in a few weeks I'll actually stop and get out and observe some more. Keep up the great work, you are improving greatly!

Love number 3 and number 4! I also like the comp in the last image, but might clone out the telephone wires. I find them distracting and maybe not for the reason you might think. It isn't because they are man-made, it is because they are horizontal lines crossing your vertical lines of grass.
#3 really intrigues me, it looks like an angle from the opposite side of the stream would make it work better by eliminating the trees on the right. I also really like 4 and 5.
Thanks for all the comments everyone, I really appreciate the feedback!
Brett, no worries on missing out on my short trip up there, I'm sure I'll get sent up to Cheyenne soon enough and I'll keep you posted. I'm also new to blending so thanks for pointing out the artifacts, I'll try to rework it tonight.
Kurt, I intentionally included the telephone wires, I wanted to give the image some sense of time and place (in very relative terms). I have some variations of the shots with the wires going a little more at an angle that I might post later. But I guess it's a matter of personal taste when it comes to things like that. The thing that does bother me about the shot that I didn't notice before is a small glare spot in right center.
And Don, I do have some shots from the other side of the outflow. I'll look at them tonight and see if any are worth posting here.

As always, don't hold back
