Noticed that the forecast for this morning indicated a good chance of fog forming so I managed to drag myself out of bed before sunrise (only by promising myself donuts if I made it!) and went out in search of the fog. There wasn't much around the lake where I expected it, but I managed to find some really intense fog by accident on my way back home. I was looking for a hilltop to try and shoot down on some of the fog when I saw this tree and the light coming through it and had to stop and get this photograph. Thank goodness for the power of donuts!

One of those photographs for which there is no explanation except that it was too beautiful not to be taken and which despite your best efforts to be somewhere else dragged you to it at the right place at the right time.

Oh, I forgot to mention that there seems to be some remnant of flare, just a bit of green right in the middle of the image that you probably want to take out.

Great shot. Interesting how the tree casts a shadow on the illuminated fog.
