Steve, this is a wonderful shot. As So Cal is primarily an arid region, if not considered totally a desert, one finds a way to capture the beauty such as this scene, or surrender to low subject matter real fast. The only thing I might consider for a change is to crop or clone out with the sky the tiny rock or mountain formation along the middle right side. Just thinking out loud on that item, either way, a truly gorgeous desert dune scene.

Thank you Paul, does look better that way.
Harley, I shot these during the winter when it's bearable out there but I have tried to shoot out in the blazing heat. Warm water actually doesn't taste too bad when it's a 115 out.
That's the ticket, Steve. I think that cleans off that edge and keeps the focus entirely on the main subject, that being the wonderful FG dune & rocks area as well as the swirled sand.
Steve,
Wonderful shot. I can feel the heat radiating from the image. The light and lights are excellent. Best Regards.

The low angle light on the dunes is pretty nice here. I think this works well with the clear blue sky, too.

Steve,
Beautiful desert image. that little bit of cloning made a pretty big difference -much cleaner now. Still, the light is sweet and the image wonderfully captured.

If you were there recently, it must have been nice and smoking hot.
