Hope I'm not causing problems by posting a question on the forum, apologies if it's wrong.
I'm looking for a backpack to carry a 300mm 2.8VR lens with a body attached. I've been using the Lowepro Mini Trekker but I can only get the lens in on its own with the body in a different slot.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a Lowepro Dryzone 200, which takes a body and my (non VR) Nikon 300mm f2.8 comfortably. The bag is entirely waterproof, but the price you pay for this is that it can be slow to get equipment in or out by the time you have negotiated all the zips. The bag is also a little too deep to take on a plane as hand luggage, so I guess it depends on what you intend to be using it for.
No planes involved David, just moving about in the field. I'll have a look at the Dryzone bag, thanks for the help.

Also consider the Lowepro Flipside 400 AW
I can get a D3 with Sigma 120-300 and 1.4 convertor attached (with the hood reversed), there's lots of room for other stuff as well, and although not water proof it does have a rain cover
How did you manage to get the "lid" of the Flipside to open that wide?
I've got a brand new one here that I thought would be OK but the lid/back is so stiff I'm struggling to open it past 90 degrees. Probably I'm just not strong enough either that or I'm worried in case I damage the bag.

Mike - I know you said no airports involved but have you checked out the Acceleration V2 from Think Tank? It's quite astonishing the amount of gear you can fit in it, considerably more than a similar size LowePro or such like.
I use mine all the time - it's like a veritable Tardis inside.

Not sure if the Nikon 300 is bigger or longer ?
