Been way too long since I posted something ... so here's an image I made yesterday, along my trek from Montana to Colorado. The clouds gave up just enough to let some light through at the right moment.
It was my first visit to the area, and I was running around in the pre-dawn dark looking for a place to shoot. So, I have no clue what this lake is called. What an amazing place though!

Really beautiful, Jesse. The foreground elements add a whole 'nother level of awesome.
I'm guessing the lower part of Lookout Lake? Just up form the parking area at Mirror Lake.

A really beautiful scene. Well composed, captured, and presented as always. I'm left wanting just a little more foreground though. Looks like you've got some new gear, those new Canon tilt-shifts have been tempting me for a while now.
Really nice image from the Snowy Range, love the light and clouds!. Strong composition too using the flowers in the foreground!.

Beautiful! Nice light sneaking in under the cloud. The light foreground rock is framed well by the reflection, and it and the columbine compliment the snow banks well. Nice exposure.
Beautiful image, Jesse. I too like how the light is coming in low under the clouds. That's a nice placement of the foreground rock and flowers too. It mirrors the moutain reflection well, and the cloud reflection is not real busy right there so the foreground elements stand out well. And the white colored rock really adds a unique look.

Glad you found that foreground in the dark.
Beauty!

Beautiful Image Jesse, can't wait to see more from you.

Well done, as always. Another reason to get to the snowy range someday. Good to see you posting!

Wow, great image Jesse! Fantastic light - you are very fortunate to have had such a good reflection with clouds like these. I've run into 20-30mph+ windss every time I've been up there this year. The rock and columbine are a nice touch. I think Brent nailed the location. I've been there many times but have never seen it this way. I hope you enjoyed your visit to the Snowies, and if you have more like this, I'd love to see them!
I see you're already breaking in that new camera and lens and with a good image to boot. Nice touch with the flowers and the light. Came together very well. Have a nice trip down there Jesse.

The white rock and the flowers add another dimension to the image... great light and as usual your masterful composition!
'Elegant & smooth' is a righteous description.
So is 'unique' and 'masterfully composed'.
Are you actually (literally) trekking down this way?
If so, do you need a sherpa/porter?

The soft light and clarity in this shot really raise it to another level. Just beautiful.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the feedback. It was just a quick "drive thru" sunrise for me, so this is the only shot I took. Thanks for the tips on the location, Brent and Brett. It's amazing the beauty you can find (especially the white granite everywhere), only steps from the highway. Can't wait to go back and backpack someday. I smell a RMNP trip in the making?!
John, I could have used your services this week for sure!! Had to cancel my planned backpacking trip, because I couldn't find a sherpa. Bum feet this summer. Doing some easy hiking/driving on the Alpine Loop this week. If anyone is out/about, look out for the Xterra with MT plates.
