Hi All,
This is one from last weekend, This is one of two Barn Owls I am currently watching in my local area.
Unfortunatly when he appeared ( I think it's a male bird)it was nearly dark so the lighting isn't very good.
I also feel that the head is soft but as I've been trying to get images of him since before Xmas, I'm pretty chuffed although hoping for lot's more oppurtunities during the summer.
I am currently doing a project with a local group erecting Barn Owl boxes, I have put some up in my area and hopefully they will be used for nesting or as a roost for the youngsters in their first winter as this is when they are most vunerable.
If you think you have the right habitat ( lots of rough grassland/marshy land) or Barn Owls in your area PM me and I can send you plans for the boxes.
Regards
Rob

Hi Rob
I love the composition, BG and position of the birds wings. Even the blurred wing tips add to the image - my only nit is I would like to have seen the head a little sharper. That said I still really like the overall image!

This is a little soft really but I'm certain it's only a matter of time before you nail it. Having said that I'm completely jealous because despite spending hours and hours in search of a barn owl I've not even seen one let alone take a photograph so you're way ahead of me!!!
Hi Rob,
I think a little selective layer sharpening on the barnie would improve this without making the rest grainy. Having said that a really nice action/habitat shot. I wonder if a little ccw rotation to level up the bg would help too?
Clive thank for the repost I think you have done a great job, would you mind posting or PM'ing me your workflow for that as I did try it but had nowhere anything that good.
Regards
Rob

Edit: Had a quick play in PS:
Something like this?
Still waiting for some decent light to catch our locals again!

A nice result hope you get plenty of further oppurtunities throughout the coming months.
