Robin portrait
D70 ISO 400 Nion 80-400 VR @400mm 1/400 @ f 5.3 - tripod & hide

Practicing on the garden birds again today and trying out a new hide I have just built. Quite like this one though I suspect that teh oof tail and wing tip slightly detract.

Hi Malcolm

Super portrait, no real nits but on my monitor it looks like it would benefit from a tad more saturation. I don't have a problem with the tail or wing tip - if this is anywhere close to full frame it would be difficult to get them pin sharp anyway! Fine image!

Nice shot Malcolm. The oof bits are not an issue for me but the whites do look a little hot. Secondly the perch is a little large for my personal taste. Nice clean background.

No Nits for me on this one-nice and sharp and well exposed, good backgound and a glint in the eye-

Wonderful birds Robins, always obliging. I'd contact Vince and acquire some more flamboyant perches, well taken.

A beautiful species and a very nice portrait.
The out of focus wing tip and tail don't spoil the image for me in the slightest,in fact I wouldn't have even noticed if you hadn't mentioned it.
Personally I find the white droppings on the post draw my eye away from the bird a little.I guess you could crop slightly above them if you felt the need, give the post a quick rinse  ,or,as it looks a pretty solid structure you could tape/nail a variety of different perches to it for future shoots,no shortage of material with all the trees begining to bud now.
