This is a scan of an older slide. It was the last kingfisher picture that I took when I had a license to photograph at the nest on the river Enbourne, between Newbury and Reading.I had a builders scaffold tower in the river with sacking and camo netting around it and every time the river rose too much I got wet feet. But a great experience as they landed in front of you,or above you on the hide and even on the end of the lens.
Techs;I think a 65-200 zoom lens,1/125 f8 and kodachrome 200.

A lovely and rare moment captured Phil. I do feel however, that if you decrease the greens and increase the blues a tad it will enhance the image nicely. Some may offer better advice, but that is my preference.
That said, I would love to have an image like this, nice one.

I agree with Fran good shot but hasn't been done justice in the processing.

Hi Phil, I think you have gone a little too far with the second posting and it needs a small reduction in the reds. Keep going, you'll get it there.

Thanks David.I thought so too when I'd posted it but had to go off and do something else.
Anyway this is definitely my last attempt.Hopefully somewhere close or it'll become a bl**!y
b&w.

Thanks for looking.Phil.

A lovely scene (and one I'm very familiar with  ), nice composition and the 2nd re-post is certainly the best but to my eye the colouring still needs some fine tuning Phil

I agree, 2nd re-post is the best but the colours still need a tweak. Great shot BTW - I'm envious

Hi Phil

a very good shot that I would love to have on my hard drive :toast: :toast:

Colours are a bit off on all of them though

Try auto color in PS. Sometime this edit tool will give the exact color you are needing. Nice capture. :toast: :toast:

Thanks Jackie.
I've done just that and posted it on the Avian forum.
Tried to save these guys any more torturous attempts.

Phil

Hope you don't mind, I had a little play with the colour balance, the original was heavily green saturated so needed both blue and red channel adjustments.

Personally I don't mind grain, but I ran a dose of noise filters as well to smooth out the background a bit.

Great shot!

Hi Phil,

Please forgive me but I have taken the liberty and tweaked it for you. If you don't wish for this to remain here, please let me know and I shall delete it.

I have just decreased the greens, increased the blues, and lightened it a tad. Hope you don't mind, and that it helps you.

Fran

PS I much prefer Mikes to mine lol

Thanks very much for your further input Fran and Mike. You've both arrived at slightly different variations and both better than mine.A little tweak here or there can certainly make quite a difference to the end result.
Fran,I think you may be right about Mike's being the slightly better. That is probably only right as the image originated only about 10 miles away from him, near Aldermaston!
Thanks for your time and effort.
