If this information is somewhere already, please just point me in the right direction. I have looked but haven't found it.

Under what circumstances are photos posted in a forum as opposed to in one of the galleries?

Thanks very much.

Hi Barbara,

It may be written on the site somewhere.... but in general this how I look at it and I think is right.

The "Galleries" are for image critique. Folks post to get feedback, comments, or just to share their work. The forums are more for topics of discussion, maybe technical questions, location, gear questions or techniques, etc. As you've probably seen, you can also post images their. Maybe you have something wrong with your equipment and you want to show an example of the problem, or a screenshot in Photoshop. Those are the kinds of images that might be posted in the "forums."

So, image critique and sharing for the Galleries. Questions, discussion, NON-critiques for the forums.

Hope that helps.

Lon

Babara

The bird photography discussion forum is also a place where you can post images asking for identification and it ia also for posting a series of images exhibiting interesting behavior.

Hi Barbara - The regional forums are a place where NPN members of a certain area post images, ask questions and in general gather to discuss nature photography. There is nothing that prohibits members from outside of that region from lurking and even chiming in when they feel like it. I follow some of these regional forums to gain information for future photo trips that I'm planning.
