I am writing this at 36 000 feet on my way home after 10 days in California-isnt technology amazing, I had a great experience with 6 condors at very close quarters, Considering there are only 190 Californian Condors left in the wild it was truly amazing,I was high up on a cliff face on the Big Sur stretch of coastline so had to hand hold the 600 as 1 minute they were above me then eye level and then they would swoop down below , I managed nearly 2 hours with them before they finally left the area, You can see more on today's blog-http://www.wildlifeacrossthewater.blogspot.com/

A cracking shot Dave. That must have been some experience!!
Must have been an exceptional exerience to be with these, shame about the wing tag, but I guess all the wild birds are tagged at such a low population level.

Lovely shot Dave, sounds like a great trip.
They are not the prettiest bird though.

You obviously had to cope with some very difficult light, made worse by the plumage colours of the bird. Personally, I would be inclined to clone out that wing tag but I realise that is a matter of personal preference. It must have been a great trip, but 190 condors? That represents a massive increase from 20 or so years ago. I do hope you will show us some more.
