Hello all,
just thought I'd introduce meself. I'm an avid hobbiest photo'er out of Corvallis, OR doing the shutterbug thing just for fun. I'm still browsing the PNWNP forum - lots of incredible work here! This forum is just what I was looking for to keep improving those skills.
And, here's a rough skinned newt image taken late last year.

Welcome Andy, nice to see you posting. Nice newt as well, looks like he is carrying his lunch on his nose
It is nice to have you join us and also have a very nice first post. I think a little more DOF might be nice, but I know it isn't easy capturing something moving toward you, not to mention macro work having narrow DOF anyway. Its eyes seem to be very sharp, and that is where my eyes are drawn, and then to the rest of the image. I like it.

Welcome aboard, Andy. And what a great shot to start out with. You've got the most important part of the image in focus--the eyes and the nose/bug. It tells the whole story. Which reminds me...I need to go make dinner.

Welcome Andy! Luv your first post, but something "bugs" me about it OK...that cat's out of the bag..I hate spiders, I just ask that you label your spider posts with the word "spider" or perhaps something like "Rick, dont look at this"! lol...
Rick, it's just an ant. No spiders here. But I'll be sure to post some huge arachnid macro under the heading "cute fuzzy bunnie" or something.
Ryan, yeah some more DOF would have been nice but I had to shoot quick. He was in the middle of the road, but I moved him to the other side before the next car came by.
