Hi all, I finally got back into gear with my photography and started catching up on processing files that have been sitting on my hard drive for months. I'm at Fall 2009 right now
Anyway, this was taken during the peak of fall color last year at Giant City State Park. Surprisingly little post processing work was done considering how intense the color is - hopefully a prelude of what is in store for us in a couple of months!
Wow! I thought I was behind in processing my photos. Very nice. I like the comp on this one. Won't be long now. After this summer I really can't wait until fall.

You're not the only one behind in processing, Taylor..still have several fall images to do myself!
Beautiful relaxing scene..looking forward to fall this year after seeing this.
Very, very nice. Perfect soft lighting for this scene and, compositionally speaking, excellent choice (IMO) to include the rock facing on the left-hand side of the frame. The visual echo it creates with the rock outcropping on the center-right is very effective, in addition to adding depth to the scene. This sort of locale is challenging to the landscape photographer and, in my view, you've really brought out the subtle beauty of the scene exceptionally well.
I've noodled with the idea of heading down to the Shawnee N.F. area during fall for years but have never done so. On average, what would you say is the best time to catch peak?

I really like this a lot, Taylor. Excellent composition with a lot of interesting elements coming together here. It makes me want to walk right into the frame and enjoy a beautiful fall hike out in nature.

Thanks all!
Kerry - it differs from year to year, of course, but some time in the second half of October. This photo was taken Oct 22nd. Some years it's closer to November, like 2008.. this was taken Nov 2nd (not mine):
There is still quite a bit of "photographically near-virgin" territory down here; there simply aren't many landscape photogs around! Feel free to contact me if you do ever make it down this way and want suggestions or anything.

Ditto all the positive comments----- a nit but I'd love to see NIk Viveza bring out the shadows a bit on the rocks on the left/bottom..... just a nit but this is one sweet shot.
