I have got an iMac , a 21" version with 4gb ram. I'm happy.

I have few questions and will be grateful for the answers/help -

1. I'm planning to calibrate the display sometime soon using my old Eye-1. I'll be very grateful for all the inputs/suggestions to avoid frustrations later.

2. Till now I have used Window(XP,7) and have all my data on external drives. They should work all fine when I plug in, right?

3. I have lightroom 2.6 which should work fine on Mac, if am not wrong. However what about my presets and other settings? Particularly SlideProShow plugin, will it work seamlessly?

There are few more questions...will write as and when the above ones are sorted out.

Thanks

1. I think it ill work fine - but I can't guarantee anything. It should be the same process you used previously, provided you download or install the Mac software.

2. They should work but it depends on how they were formatted. If they are NTFS (which is fairly likely) the Mac will only be able to read them. If that's the case, you'll have to move the data and use the Mac to re-format them in order to be able to write to them. If you want them to work on both Windows and Mac they should be FAT32.

3. You need to have the Mac versions of everything, so it has to be available. I have no idea if you can transfer the settings, but for LightRoom it's unlikely.

The more important thing here is the license. I don't know if Adobe will let you transfer your LR license over to Mac since you don't have the newest version. They might make you buy the program again. Or else you'd have to run a Windows emulator on your Mac.

I recently got an iMac but the only question I can answer is #2. It will be plug and play aside from any programs that are truly dependent on windows, but photos and associated files will be ready to go.

Thanks David and Luke (cool name!),
I'm sure about the lightroom license as it is sold that way. I'm not sure about my settings and other plugins. Lets see. I'm on holidays and moving to a new house. Will get time next week to do the stuff.
Thanks and hope somebody else will chime in as well.

If you have an i1 Display 2, it should work fine on your new iMac. The original i1 display was not intended for LCD displays, so it depends on which i1 you have.
