It's that time again and seeing as the heathers blooming not five minutes from my front door I thought I'd better get out and see it and those that inhabit it. The light in the Dales has been awful for over a month now with grey skies seeming to hang over the area permanently (hence the shutter speed). Judging by the lack of big lenses this morning I expect everyone is over on the Moors where it looked a bit brighter.

Lovely shot with all that purple heather!
The rock with Bird really works well in this composition.

Lovely! Great background and good composition, nice to see the bird a little smaller in the frame, it works well, and shutter speed well handled!
Hi Simon, good to see you found a spot where the heather is coming out in that great sea of purple. great perch with a nice two two BG behind him. I must admit, it's been very patchy for the heather, but if you find the right spot... Haven't been over to your patch for a while, are they burning any of the areas, as there has been a lot over to a few of the spots I go to and even the Curlew have been scarce?
