The Sights And Sounds Of Nature-Spring Tide+Repost
A wide-angled photo looking over the mudflats of RSPB Snettisham yesturday morning. The Spring Tide had just started to advance towards the shoreline and the birds had started to take flight, twisting and tuning.I wanted to capture this amazing moon-like landscape before the sea had consumed the land,at the same time capturing the flocks of birds in the distance. The sunrise was amazing, calm with stunning colours,a real privilege to witness the sights and sounds of nature on these special spring tides.

You have caught the atmosphere of dawn in such an area very well, Craig. However, you do need to straighten the horizon a little, at the moment it has a drop of several degrees to the right. Other than that I think it is superb.

Really nice Craig, I like the way the water leads your eye to the flock. :toast:

Yes, like it a lot. It didn't look like this the last time I was in Norfolk - obviously need to go back .....

Great stuff, Craig, well worth getting up early to capture. I think it would also look great in 3D.
  :wavey: Only joking. Though IMO, and many others, 3D and holography is here to stay now that technology is getting there. Watch the Gadget Show on Channel 5 next Monday evening.

If I'd realised it was you I would have done - catch you at the Birdfair though

Love this Craig. The contrast between warm sky and beautifully shaped and shaded blue foreground really makes this and the distant birds are just the icing on the cake. There's always this temptation to get right up close and fill the frame with subject, but I love this type of shot with loads of space and a giving a real sense of place.

Very atmospheric.

Perhaps a very slightly slower shutter speed to help emphasise the movement of the flock? Not sure. Love the rich colours you've captured here.

Des

Very nice

Have you also tried using a digital ND filter effect?

duplicate layer
desaturate
invert
change blend mode to overlay
reduce opacity to taste
