20D, 400/2.8, ISO400, 1/250 @ f5.6, Gitzo + modified Manfrotto 393, C1pro + CS2.

Hi

Had just a short outing at the weekend, this female Siskin posed nicely for about 2mins, unfortunately Mr. Siskin refused to play...

All the best

Beautiful clear shot. How have you modified your 393? Just curious.

Hi Tim...

I have modded the 393 by removing the Manfrotto QR plate and replacing it with an Arca-Swiss QR plate on a small riser block, main reasons being that all my kit has Arca style plates on it and I can mount the lens from the top instead of trying to thread it through.....

Hi Phil
a very nice picture of the Bird but not quite sure about the BG. Naturally you have no control over that.

Hi John..

Yes know what you mean, in hindsight I could probably have opened up more as I was shooting with the 400 bare.

All the best

Don't know what you mean

Nice shot by the way, well seen and captured.

Nicely captured Phil & well isolated from bg. Detail & pose is eye catching & its nice to see the birds very relaxed & fluffed for the shot :toast:

Bg looks good for me

Hi Phil

BG a little distracting but you have made a really good job on the bird!

Beautiful feather detail and colour. BG does make its presence felt but it does suggest 'woodland' so, on balance, I don't mind it. Dof is superb for 5.6 - looking at the twig, you might even have got away with opening up a stop. :toast:

Very nice Phil. What an attractive looking species this is.The soft light on the bird looks good and shows off those delicate markings superbly. :toast:

Love it Phil. The bird seems extremely colourful for a female. Have you applied much saturation ?
