Floral Patterns in BW
I shot this subject a few weeks ago on two separate occasions. I was immediately drawn to this plant because of the repeating patterns in the leaves, and I wanted to use a shallow DOF to give the image a blurred, pinwheel feel.

After looking at my files after my first attempt, I realized that there were a lot of DOF options and that placement of the focal point within the frame was also an important consideration. I went back and worked the subject some more, and decided the whole experiment worked best in a BW conversion. I'm posting two images for c & c, to see what others see.

The first image:

In this image, the focal point is on the two leaves in the center of the image, and the DOF is shallower here.

Like the first one, Brian  - the repeating shapes play magic on the eyes.

I'd pick #1 as well, I think I would like a bit more in focus but the pattern is nice.

The first for me too.. it just has something the second is missing. Lovely tones.

I'd have to go with # too...I think it better delineates the patterned nature of the subject.
