My evening at Mt. Evans (aka: no more karma left)
OK. I can officially say that I have spent all of my karma that I have banked over the years last night at Evans. The conditions were terrific. And as you went higher and higher the clouds kept getting better and better.

On the way up we stopped at the spot right after Mt. Goliath (the nice sunset spot at the curve going up). We shot a few pics and then packed up the car. Kept shooting like crazy. Finally I shot this picture and realized I only had 40 images left on my card. So I decided to stop and get another card from my bag. Only to realize that my bag wasnt in the car. In addition to the memory cards I had two Canon TSE lenses (yes the 24mm was one of them) and my Nodal Ninja pano head. Lets just say my stomach hit the floor.

We quickly (as quickly as you can in total fog and on the curvy roads) started to scramble down the mountain. Kept checking every place we stopped along the way and each time no bag to be found. Finally got to the 1st stop and I didn't see the bag. Man was I feeling low. Then my friend looked down and found a business card with a note scratched on it saying that 'we have your bag and give us a call'.

This morning I picked up my bag and met my guardian angel Bruce Harrington. Bruce is another one of 'us' photo junkies. He hasn't been on the site before so I am hoping he will join the 'club' and introduce himself. He has some great stories about some pickles he has gotten himself into over the years too. Last night though I am just so thankful that he was around to help me out.

Thanks again Bruce.

Another image on the way up.

That first one is delicious and love the light in the second! So I guess by now you have recovered from your near death experience of the camera bag kind. My lens wasn't in there was it

THAT is frightening! Glad you got the gear back. And these are both spectacular shots.

I really like that first image Richie, what sweet clouds!. What a story too, really glad you got your gear back!.

I love the pastels in the first, and it's sense of really dwelling in the sky. And I know that feeling in the stomach. I lost a film SLR and two lenses years ago, entirely through my own carelessness. Glad your story had a better ending!

#1 is especially sweet. Like Jackson said - love the pastels. It almost looks like you shot it from the air. It's also good to here there are still honest people out there!

Sweet, Rich. Nice light. As far as the equipment, it's far better to be lucky than good. Of all the creeps out there that could have picked up your bag, you found an honest one. Lucky.

That first one is excellent! Does look like it was taken while you were aloft (and in a sense, you were).
Thanks for sharing a good news story. Did you have a card of your own in the gear bag?

Awesome--#1 is a beaut! :toast:

Thanks everybody.

@John - What I did (thankfully) is attach a laminated business card to all of my bags. That way people know how to reach me. We own a lamination machine over here so if any of you would like a laminated card let me know and I'll get Veronica to make one for you.

Great shot Rich, and I'm glad there are still good people out there.

I would have given your bag back but I would have replaced the 24mm TSE with a cardboard fake.
Just kiddin', but oh how I'd love to have that lens.

1st pic is a killer!

The fact that you got your gear back is almost as cool as these shots! Blessed on several different levels on this day! Excellent work!

What luck that an honest person found your bag!
