Greetings from the coast, I love it when an image works when you don't expect it. The light was terrible while I was checking out Hunting Island State Park in South Carolina.
The glare and harsh light seems to give this image a cross-processing look which I think works to benefit the apocalyptic feel.
I hope you enjoy and please add your comments.

Just for fun, here is another taken a few minutes later...not my feet!
Beautiful image Ed. The crop and vignette worked nicely to create the effect you present here. And I love that sky!

Ed, the apcolyptic feel that you are striving for works well in this compostition. The tree or remains of the tree are interesting.I am curious as to why that tree seems to be the only one on the beach?
Tom, the beach in this area is covered with trees and stumps. Some standing but most down. I moved around until I had this one separated. Just below this frame was a dozen or so stumps.
I went back to this spot this morning for sunrise but it was low tide and this tree was standing in the sand not to mention the sky was less than attractive. Primed for another visit I guess.
NPN editor in chief Richard Bernabe told me about the park.
