Slides from Digital Files

I think this topic has been discussed before, but I can't find it.

I have been convinced to enter a photo contest this year that requires slides to be sent in for the jury process. Prints will be displayed for the judging. In the past this would have not been a problem, but I shoot digitally now.

So are there any good easy to deal with places to make slides from my Photoshop files? Any tricks to maximizing the quality of the slide generated?

I have about a month to get this done. Has anyone had any of the local labs do this? Of course a few come to mind, like Photocraft and Qube.

Thanks for your help,

Is there an easy way to make them somehow into 4x5's so they are easy to see?

Scott, good luck with the contest first of all!

Sad to say, we don't do those at Qube any longer. Wish we did. However, I know the Slideprinter does. Tell Susie ans Andrea I sent you.

Also, I've had several friends use a place called GammaTech.com before, and had good results. Quite a bit cheaper too. I've seen their slides projected, and they looked great. They were from 8MP camera files. Hope this helps.

Photocraft lists digital-to-slide as a service, but I haven't used it (yet?). I've used them for dupe slides and they're pretty picky, so they probably do their typical job on this, too.

Rich - I had the same idea, but the specify 35 mm slides.

Brent and Les - thanks for the suggestions and I'll look into them.

Brent - I looked atthe gammatech website and I hadto call them for a couple of questions. They are really nice on the phone. Best of all they are cheaper and faster than some of the other possbilities. I'll upload the files tonight.

Once I get them back I'll let everyone know how it all worked out.

Thanks,

I've been Told Accent Photo here in C-Springs does it too. I'm not sure on the larger sizes though.

Rich - GammaTech does make 4x5 transparencies as well and the price seem pretty reasonable. It would be tempting to do that ,but the direction specificaly say 35 mm.

I've had good experiences with slides.com.

I uploaded 8 digital files to GammaTech on Monday night and the slides arrived in the mail on Thursday. They look very good. Three days for $2.50 for each slide. All in all it looks to me this is a good way to get slides from a digital camera. You know this seems backwards, I used to convert slide to digital . . .
