Hi Guys,

I shot this mountain hare a few years ago in summer in Perthshire (about 3000feet up!). This particular individual was very cooperative unlike some of the others that you sometimes encounter! I was able to crawl very close and managed to get a whole series of images but this is one of my favourites -it is the moment of realisation when the hare actually noticed that I was right beside it!

Comments welcome,

Niall
Shot on EOS 30 and film - no details recorded apart from the fact that the light was quite low.

A very striking shot, showing definate surprise and a touch of fear, I like the eyebrows. Not sure about the background though.

i once knew a real human being with eyebrows like that!! the older i get, the more i think i might be growing some too......

nice shot, but there is a bit of a spot top right that needs removing. i've heard these mountain chaps are more approachable than lowland versions. a lot like mountain women i guess

Hi Niall

Up until about three or four years ago our hills were louping with these guys. Now we are lucky to see any at all. I was talking to a Perthshire keeper today who said that the same was happeing on his estate as well. I have been meaning to try and get a shot myself, while they are still white and you have inspired me to haul myself up onto the tops again. Agree with Mark about removing the spot from top right. Low light has left things a wee bit grainy and with minimal dof - but obviously can't be helped. Nice image.

Love that expression, given the conditions it is a nice image, I think that perhaps a touch more PP work would lift this image a lot....
