Weminuche High Route
Last week I spent 7 days trekking through the Needle Mountains and Grenadier Range. The weather was crazy... monsoons in the mornings, afternoons, and nights with little rhyme or reason, with a couple bluebird stretches in between. But, the light was intense... I've never had so many killer sunrises or sunsets on one trip!

Check out all my photos here: http://www.widerange.org/gallery/weminuche-high-route/

Thanks for looking, and for any comments/critiques you may have! :toast:

it's depressing to us mere mortals the places your physical prowess allows you to go. On the plus side, we get to see the amazing results!

Wow! I especially like the second Ruby Lake shot, and the Knife Point and Storm King shots. It's cool to see one from the other side of the Grenadiers too.

Wow, hard to pick a favorite from this great set of images. I like the one posted here, the Animas Mountain image, the Noname Valley Tree, floating shadows on the Grenadiers and the Peak Three sunrise. Great light!

Yup, hard to pick a favorite, a very nice collection.

The first two and Storm King Peak alpenglow are just amazing images Jack. Sounds like an incredible trip!

So I'm scrolling down, my jaw dropping progressively lower, and then I come to the one of Knife Point. What really gets me is how you casually say, "In 2008 I hiked up to the top of this peak to photograph neighboring Sunlight Peak at sunrise." HIKED?? Your hikes are obviously at a whole different level from the rest of us! What a stunning collection!

Awesome Collection!! The Storm King (the third to last shot) is INCREDIBLE, also I like the Grenadier Range image- :toast:

Seriously, these are all killer! I wish I had the time, motivation, energy.. ah hell, I'll just keep admiring your photographs.

All are supreme! I don't really know what else to say that would do these justice.

Wow, what does a guy say after seeing these? Speechless, and that is saying something with me! More, please?

Keep it up, that's all I'll say!

Impressive! However, in the last image my eyes keep going to the OOF flower in the foreground; a bit distracting. Am I allowed to say that ?

I might as well go hang up my camera if you're gonna keep pumping out stuff like this, Jack! Outstanding. Lots of pretty postcards there, but IMO #1 and #9 transcend the postcard stuff and qualify as fine art. :toast:

All excellent, but my favorite is by far the first.

Great collection, Jack! Can't pick a favorite. It's also interesting to compare the Storm King photos. Looks like that was a great trip.

I'd never thought I'd end up quoting Todd but: "it's depressing to us mere mortals the places your physical prowess allows you to go. On the plus side, we get to see the amazing results!"

Excellent stuff, Jack. Your legs must be made of steel!

Your work is exactly why this area is high on my must-do list. I really want to get up there myself someday. Thanks for the inspiration yet again!

Really nice series Jack. The images from Ruby Lake are really appealing and the Beaver Pond reflection of Arrow has a wonderful open feeling.

Beautiful and amazing work. I like them all except for the last. I'm planning on hiking Longs Peak in early September and I was going to leave my camera behind because of weight. Seeing all the places you lug your camera gear has changed my mind.

Hello everyone, thank you for your comments!

I figured the last one would get some critiques... there was no way with the lens I was using to get those foreground flowers/grasses in focus, so I opted to go decidedly blurred with those. I know it's not a killer shot but I like it anyhow.

1&9 are what stand out to me, but that does not diminish the others. A great collection that makes my aging legs envious.
