Climbing on the Sunflower bandwagon
I headed up towards Longmont Saturday evening and located one of the fields listed Mr. DeBord's post. Good weather, excellent flowers. Probably goinng to head back Saturday or Sunday for sunrise. Who's game?

I really like the detail in your second shot. Nice closeup.

If I go back, it will probably be Thursday or Friday morning, while those of you that are still employed are stuck at work! I really want to get some good photos after my big disappointment from Monday evening.

Nice!
I sure like the backlighting and the black background, while the closeup is simply excellent!

These are GREAT shots, Bill! It's weird, there used to be something about these huge sunflowers that creeped me out (kinda like big shrimp), but the more I've seen the intricate beauty of their design, the more I love 'em. That second one is like looking into the heart of a distant galaxy. Kudos for breaking from the pack on both images.

The field is tough to shoot at sunset, so kudos to you for capturing these different compositions, I may see you up there at sunrise!.

Very nice shots Bill. Really liked the first one with wonderful backlight.

Yes! Thanks for showing us that sunflowers are still beautiful without the mountains in the background :toast:

Both are really excellent! I really like the pano format in that first one!

Great shots Bill!! I love the first one with the black background, and the macro is excellent. It was nice to meet you up there on Sat nigh as well!

Since the mountain view isn't as good as the other fields with a view of Longs Peak, we might as well focus on the stars of the show up there! You've done a fantastic job of doing just that.

Thanks Mike. Good to meet you as well but next time please don't forget the bug spray! I did shoot some with the mountains in the background and have even processed a couple but none of them really speak to me like these and a few others did. I'm going to head back up there for a sunrise this weekend. Hope they're not too far past peak.

Also big thanks to John De Bord for the location and to everyone else for the kind words. Hope to see some of you there this weekend.
